FOSS
Friends Of Selborne School
Our PTA takes the form of FOSS; The Friends of Selborne School. We organise fundraising events such as Quiz Night, Christmas events, film nights, discos and the hugely popular FOSStival music festival. These fun events and allow families to meet and socialise whilst making the most of what it is to be part of a small community-based village school.
The funds are used to fulfil needs that our school has that go beyond its own budget, as well as pay for some very nice-to-have add-ons to the school curriculum to complement our children’s education.
Fundraising and Donations
Over the last year FOSS has spent £10,033.50 on a variety of activities and resources including:
Improvement works to the playground tarmac; new benches for the school hall; phonics sets; playground equipment; refurbishing the “dragon” on the school field; transport for school trips; outdoor learning resources.
We also have a long term goal of fundraising to replace the wooden school playground equipment.
All parents are automatically members of FOSS and we encourage everyone to get involved in some way; perhaps you have the skillset to design a label for our new apple juice, are willing to supervise a film night or spend an hour or two tidying the school grounds? All offers of help will be gratefully received!
Each class has a FOSS rep and we meet once a half term to plan events – meeting dates are published in the school newsletter.
There are plenty of other ways in which you can support FOSS;
- Registering for EasyFundraising; sign up, download the app or remember to use easyfundraising whenever you shop online. It’s easy and completely FREE! These donations really mount up, so please sign up to support us.
- Buying any books through the Scholastic Books website will generate credits for books for our school library.
- The Local Fruit and Veg Box People will donate 10% of your order to Friends of Selborne School. They offer a free, next day delivery service of fruit and veg across our area and there's no need to commit to a regular box. Don’t forget to enter ‘Selborne School’ at the checkout.
- Using our pre-loved uniform shop. Second hand uniform will be available to purchase at school events but you can also purchase at other times by emailing fosshampshire@gmail.com. We welcome donations of good quality, used uniform.
